FiMa Permanent Education (PE)

Contents of the PE module for 2024:

Regulations for financial companies are increasingly based on international legislation. In addition to European directives, Europe increasingly makes use of European regulations and we see that Europe is increasingly going its own way, independently of the United States, for example, and certainly in the field of sustainability, digitization and the increasing application of artificial intelligence within the financial world .

The financial sector has an important role in the transformation to a sustainable and digital society. Europe can exercise control over these topics within the financial sector through the European Central Bank and the European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs). Since the 2008 credit crisis, the powers of the ESAs have expanded significantly and set regulatory standards related to sustainability and digitalisation.

The financial institutions themselves also have an important role to play in the upcoming transformations and will also have to develop into sustainable and digitized financial companies. The ESAs and the banks have identified a number of risks: Sustainability risks; Cyber risks; AI and Robotics (RPA) risks; reputation risks; and Risks in the chain. These five risks are the subject of the FiMa PE sessions of 2024.
